to a walk in the park

Dr. Kelly O’Connor, VCA, of the Freehold Veterinary Clinic, will lead a "Pet Walk" from 9:30-11 a.m. June 9 at Monmouth Battlefield State Park in the orchard area (Wemrock Road entrance). The informative discussion will address outdoor safety, poisonous plants, heat exhaustion in pets, and other topics. Pets must be on a leash, and pet owners are asked to bring a plastic bags to pick up after their dogs. Preregistration is required; call Manalapan Parks and Recreation at (732) 446-8355.

Jewish center to host

kosher lunch, programs

An afternoon lunch double-header will be sponsored by the Jewish Community Center of Western Monmouth at 11 a.m. June 12 at Monmouth Torah Links, Route 9, Marlboro. The event will include a kosher lunch and two programs: "The Mood Food Connection," presented by nurse Karen Scott; and a presentation by New Jersey Citizens Action, which will discuss telemarketing, calling plans, telephone bills, and consumers’ rights and responsibilities. Cecilian Music Club

holds annual workshop

The Cecilian Music Club held its annual Composition Workshop at the home of a member in Freehold. Students of club members submitted their original compositions, and Dr. Stefan Young, a professor at Westminster Choir College, analyzed the selections and made suggestions for improvement.

The teachers who prepared students for the workshop are: Bernice Cooperman of Freehold, Meral Guneyman of Pennington, Richard Hendrickson of Freehold, Barbara Lerro of Freehold and An-Li Young of East Brunswick. The students who submitted compositions are: Matthew Brower, Daniel Sprechman, Deanna Vitoroulis, Trevor Williams and Eric Wong.
